Council Meeting – May 14, 2014

Council held their regular meeting on Wednesday, May 14, 2014.  This tends to be a very busy time of the year and Council had a number of items on this week’s agenda.  A public hearing was held to discuss the rezoning of a parcel of land by Diamond Drive with a group of area residents in attendance.  The Foreman reported to Council that the street sweeper and the dozer used at the dump required a number of repairs.  Line flushing has now successfully been completed for another season with no major complications.

Town Council is sending another letter of support to the Good Spirit School Division in order for a school bus to be scheduled for students on the south side of Town.  The Town has requested bus service from the School Division a number of times but to no avail.  Requests for another STOP sign were discussed by Council and it was decided that more signs of that nature were not required at this time.  SaskPower has requested an easement by Commercial Drive and Council has asked if the existing line could be moved to the end of the property line in order to have the lot completely utilized rather that have a power line in the centre of it.

Council approved the request to have the Dr. Von Houligan’s Carnival of Calamities circus in Town the week of June 23rd if a spot can be found to hold it.  As it is grad week the area by the S.N. Boreen Centre is not available and the circus requires a large area to hold the shows.    Lawn care, flowers, swimming lessons and WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Material) training for summer students were all discussed for the upcoming summer season.

A summary of the Municipal Infrastructure Conference held in Kindersley attended by Councillors Pfeifer and Vinish was discussed, along with other upcoming sessions and conferences.
